University of Calgary Partnership

TCFC is so proud to be partnering with Master’s of Social Work Students from the University of Calgary. These bright students complete their practicum on the ground in Tanzania, working closely alongside our Social Work Team.

“My time at the Rift Valley Children’s Village was the most rewarding opportunity I’ve had during my social work career. I was able to bring my passion and knowledge to work alongside the social workers and other staff at RCVC, gaining many skills and learning from the amazing team at RVCV. Above all, I made lasting relationships with the staff and children at the village. I had so much fun with the girls in the house I stayed in. I hope to be able to go back one day to visit.”

-Hilary Jahelka, Practicum Student

“My placement at Rift Valley Children’s Village was an exceptional cross-cultural learning experience that deepened my understanding of community-led initiatives and the importance of culturally responsive social work. The warmth of the team and the opportunity to collaborate and build meaningful relationships with both staff and children were among the most rewarding aspects of my experience, reminding me of the importance of connection, trust, and learning from the communities we work alongside.”

-Teanna Gross James, Practicum Student
